Danny's Wedding

My brother Danny got married
over the weekend in Manti.

So we flew up Thursday and the
sealing was on Friday.  I forgot how big
and beautiful it is.  I was there
on a date to the Manti pageant like 4 summers
ago...so I totally forgot.

Cute boys...
The sealer did such a fantastic job...
He talked a lot about the endowment
which was good to review.

He told Danny that women naturally
have "spiritual DNA" and
to always listen to what she
has to say and respect her opinion
and work together on decisions
and whatever life brings you.

It was beautiful.

Megan is the youngest of 10
children and comes from a ranching family.

Here are her dad and brothers wearing
their boots.  I was so intrigued...
I took pictures.

But her family is pretty incredible
and so welcoming and her sister-in-law Julie
and I are pretty much best friends now.

So precious...
Danny is so happy
and she just fits him
so well.

She has such a calm
and pleasant
demeanor...
but she definitely
has a little fight in her which
I like.

I am so happy to see
him so happy.

Cute Jack

The next day we drove to
Manila for the reception.

It is right on the border of Wyoming
and Utah and just tons and tons
of land.  It was such a pretty drive.

The ranch is out of the middle
of nowhere and is
2,500 acres large.

The took us for a ride to show
us a little bit and it is pretty legit.

Tons of cattle and horses
and hay and tractors

and it is PERFECT for Danny.

Just put him to work.

The reception was really nice.  Weddings
are a lot of work but a lot of fun.

It is such a great time
and my Mom cried the whole day.

"here she goes again..."

On the way back to my Grandma's we took
a picture of this sign cause we thought it
was pretty amazing that there are only 150 people.

It was a fun weekend
but I am glad to be home.

I start work tomorrow
with meetings and trainings
and all kinds of stuff.

No more Summer.

Not sure where it went.

Speech School

My nephew Nixon who is almost
2 doesn't talk very much.

In fact he doesn't talk at all
except
for an OCCASIONAL "hi" or "dad"...

It does concern me a little
since he should have 10-15 words right now
and Nixon doesn't mimic sounds very much.
Instead he screams at high intervals or
says "uh oh" 100 times a day.

Which is completely adorable by the way.

After a little or a lot
of prodding...my sister agreed
to let me do a minor
evaluation with him.

Now there are kids that develop slower
but it is better to rule in out
just in case.

No big deal.  My brother Dallin didn't speak
until he was 4 but he did speech therapy early on
and he is the smartest in our family.

This video is to die for.

PS...gotta love
the finger in the nose...
kinda

Random Nice Guy

First off I want to give a shout out to our
amazing home teachers: Steve Killian and Evan Brinley

They are by far the best home teachers I have ever had.
They are so on top of it and we actually invite them to
things and like hanging out with them.

Evan was cracking me up during dinner.

Anyway...half way through dinner a few of
noticed that this random guy at the other
table kept looking over at us and pointing.

We didn't think much of it.
So then he comes up to us as he is leaving and
asks if we are Mormon.
What gave it away?
No alcohol, modesty, clean conversation?

So we replied yes and I could tell he
kinda wanted to stick around.

Anyway...we talk for awhile and
it would be important to note
that each person came to about
$30 a piece so you do the math.

(It was a pretty expensive restaurant
in Scottsdale.  Apparently Steve knows
of crazy places like these. )

 The bill comes...
and of course Steven refuses to let
any of us pay...and then....
 our waiter
states that the nice gentleman from the
other table
picked up our tab.

We couldn't believe it.
How amazing is that?!
I felt so bad for not talking to him more.
So we got his name: Jason Hendrix

Steve says he will try to find him
at work tomorrow.

(He works for the governor)

So I decided the next time I go to Sonic...
actually I never really go to Sonic
so more like QT or Paradise Bakery
or wherever...I am going to pick up someone's tab.

It may not be $200 worth...
but as they say...

"what comes around goes around"

or

"pay it forward"

Take your pick.

Too Fast...

This summer is going by way to fast.
I drove out to Eloy today with my boss
to meet the Special Ed. director,
principal and superintendent
and to see the schools.

I am really excited about the new year.
There are only 2 campuses this time
and they are only 5 minutes apart.
And....at the elementary school...
I have my own HUGE room, bathroom,
sink, drinking fountain, office, printer,
storage space and new materials.

I about died and went to speech heaven.
It is going to be a crazy and busy year but
I am excited.  My boss called
these 2 schools and 70+ kids
my own "baby".

Yikes.
Ready or not...
Luckily she is only a phone call away
just in case I mess someone's kid up.
JK

And I was able to go see Stacie and Graham again last week....

He is getting so big!!

One More Thing...

My youngest brother Dallin got his mission call....

He is going to the Singapore Malaysia Mission...

And he reports August 17th to the MTC for 9 weeks....

He is going to be the best missionary!

Huntington Beach

There are a few perks to being single...
and one of them is you get to go on fun trips
with a bunch of friends...

So we went to Huntington for the weekend!

Only 8 of us left early Friday morning to head to Hollywood
to go to Universal Studios

but we made a stop at Chipotle.

Did you know you could get a drink, chips, guacamole,
and a mini quesadilla for only like $5?

Well now you know...

Random flying people

Kinda cool except it cost $25 for 10 minutes
and you had to do a 30 minute training session

Nix-A on that A

L-O-V-E them
In the words of friend Katie: "besties"

So we went on this Simpson ride and I
was doing pretty good until this dang one.

I have been feeling EXTREMELY nauseous
the past week or so (got my wisdom teeth
taken out) and this ride did me in.

I felt sick the rest of the day...it was horrible

but still managed to have a lot of fun.

NEVER GO ON THE SIMPSON RIDE
OK?  OK...

Then we met the rest of the crew that same
night at the hotel

and the next morning...headed to the beach.

Free Sprinkles Cupcakes

Erika, Katie, me, Carly, Erica, Heather

A few guys in the group when surfing...

One time a few years ago I tried to surf
and I fell off about 1 second after getting on and it
came up and hit me straight in the head

I haven't attempted since...

I probably should have gotten a little closer
for this one...

A beautiful day...mid 70's, light breeze, tossing around
the football and Frisbee, a little bit
of this, a little bit of that...amazing

Then we headed up to Santa Monica Pier

We ate at this place called Monsoon and it was so good

This is Camille...She now has to attend
every trip I go on

The whole group minus 3 cause they left early

Aren't they cute?  We are missing 3 guys but they left early.

Sorry for the picture overload.

Now we are home to 150 degree weather.

Nice.
