Move it or Lose it Sister!!

Why, Why, Why do people insist on driving 65-70 mph in the fast lane??

Why??

I don't have too many pet peeves besides, spitting, bad attitudes, slow walkers,

inconsideration, smoking in public places, cussing in public places,

and really ugly cleavage and midriff, but besides, that

I am perfectly fine.

Today I was driving to work and mind you I work on Ironwood and

Broadway and kind of in a hurry and I had to go around 4, not 2, not 3

But 4 cars in the fast lane driving 65 mph.

And ALL 4 of them were on their cells phones.

Texting and talking.

MOVE IT!! AND GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!

( I do text and talk occasionally....but never in the fast lane going 65 so its ok...right?)

Phew...I feel much better.

PS. And I just really like the picture of that car.

A girl can dream...

Date Night

So Friday night was a date night for Steven and I and I was excited to spend

time with him. So we went to Macaroni Grill for dinner with some of his friends and

had a real nice server. In fact she is dating an inactive

member of the church and proceeds
to tell us that

he is a HALF MORMON.

(His father is Jewish and his mother is LDS)

How awesome is that. A HALF MORMON!

I loved that. But we got her number and I gave it to the sister missionaries

in the ward and we
are going to invite dear Hannah to church.

It was all Steven.

So then we didn't go see a movie, go bowling, or even play

a game. We did something else. Well Steven did something else...

replaced the cracked tile in my parents walkway. We went to Home Depot

and bought gravel, grout, sponge, trowel and something else that I can't remember.

And I just helped him pick up the broken pieces from the old tile.

He asked me half way through if I had some reading to do or something.

But I felt rude making him do all the work. But let's face it....

I would be much better helping by just reading or something.

But then half way through we realized the tile my parents had

was for the kitchen and not for the walk way. So bless little Steven's heart.

He had to go to the tile store the next day and find tile

that matched it.

Doesn't it look great! Good job Steven!

He did such an awesome job. Didn't know I was

dating such a handy man.

And if you ever need a date idea...replace tile.

Next week we will be replacing all the light fixtures in the house.

Just Kidding...

Movie Review

My Sister's Keeper

Never ever under any circumstance go see this movie with your mother

if you have had cancer. You think that would be a no-brainer right?

My mom was a wreck through the whole thing

and said she almost walked out a few times because it was too much for her

and hit too close to home. Sorry Mom!! But it is true. I just didn't

think it was going to be that hard.

But if you want to cry a lot...go see it. I probably will never see it again.

Not because it wasn't good or realistic (because it is VERY realistic), but just

because it is a one time

view I think for anyone. I just wish I had a cute boy named Taylor

to do chemo treatments with me. Haha. Just kidding...well not really.

And who knew Cameron Diaz could play such a serious role...

Spencer and the Mission

So Spencer sends us his camera chip every couple of months and here are some pictures and one video. He has been transferred to the island of Guam and he is kind of disappointed because they only speak English there and he has really mastered the Pohnpein language but Guam is where the mission home is so he is happy about that.
It is very common on Pohnpei to find rats. He even will wake up with one under his bed. Can you even imagine? I would die.

A couple of boys they baptized. He said that most people they teach have problems with the Word of Wisdom and it ends up being the only reason they can't commit to baptism and it is very frustrating.

Oh Spencer and his salsa...

I try and send him chips and salsa every other month. But this last time a rat got into the chips but if looks like he kept what the rat didn't eat. That's how much he loves his tostitos. If I knew a rat had gotten into them...there is no way in heck I would still eat them.
But I am also not on an island eating fried rice everyday.
Oh Pohnpei, Pohnpei...

He looks so uncomfortable...but its funny how one hand is still holding the scriptures.

They were asked by some lady in the branch to dig a 6 foot hole.

I have been trying to upload a video of him talking Pohnpein but it isn't working at the moment. It honestly just sounds like a bunch of gibberish but kind of cool at the same time. I will keep trying I guess.

4th of July Weekend

We went up to Heber for the 4th of July and it was so amazing to escape the blistering heat. I almost hate it as much as Provo's winters. And we ate some vegetables from my Dad's garden.

Uncle Mark calling in the troops for dinner.

My dad made tri tips and chicken on Friday with dutch oven potatoes. Saturday night Uncle Mark made his famous chicken and corn and potato salad. And Uncle Paul and Aunt Kelly made breakfast burritos for Saturday morning breakfast. It was great!

Isn't my mom so cute!

Dad and the chicken

Kaden chilaxing in front of the fire

Jack and the Vespa

Morning!

We did a lot of sleeping...

And our first annual Parker kickball game. Actually our first idea was softball but
we unfortunately did not think ahead and therefore had no bats, gloves, balls, ect. And I of course decided not to bring my shoes and so I had only flip flops. So I was the official cheerleader and picture taker and unofficial score keeper.

What up Jack?

I just really liked the clouds in this picture. You know me and my scenic pictures.

Action shot

I just thought this picture is adorable of Kyler and Jack

And then we went to this little carnival they had nearby.

Ok and this bunny at the petting zoo had freakishly long ears.
They were seriously as
long as his entire body. It was so weird.

And Rachel speculating on whether it was worth $10 to get in...

And the goose...

Kaden and the pigs...

And then the badmitton tournament. My family
is all about good, clean, fun competition.
Well at least the good competition I guess.
And quoting my brother Dallin, "If you are not
cheating, you are not trying."

And then towards the end of the weekend, I just stopped taking pictures. Kind of lame I know. The boys decided to go down to the high school where the huge crowds are for the fireworks but the rest of us stayed behind to see them from the road. Next year I told my Mom that we need to go to the parade. I hear it is a big deal in Heber.

But it was super fun and good to see a bunch of extended family.

Rubios

I went here for lunch today...again.

I have been 4 times in 2 weeks and I could easily go everyday.

I am in love (yes in love) with the veggie burritos and the re fried beans and I
usually hate re fried beans.

I now have my mother, father and brother loving it.

Thank you Blake for introducing me to this wonderful place.

I ask you to please partake in this heavenly goodness.

That is all...

Oh and PS...if I end up moving back to Provo, the only one is in American Fork. What the...

Can someone spell...DIRTY

So a heads up to all book readers...."The Time Traveler's Wife" is dirty. D-I-R-T-Y! Never read a book with more "sex talk" in my life and I am so disappointed because I was really looking forward to it. And I bought it! Oh well. Just so you know. Guess we need a new book to read. Any suggestions? Kelli...you always come up with good stuff. But then again, so does Stacie.

We went up north to the cabin for the 4th of July weekend and it was beautiful. We had 70 degree weather the entire time. I will post pictures soon.

And did you know that Sarah Palin resigned as the governor in Alaska? She still had a year and a half left in her term. What's that all about? But the media will not leave her and her family alone so she must have her own reasoning.

My sister is naming their boy: Rosson Parker Shumway. Solid name huh? They were actually thinking of Stellar. And what do you think of the name Ande for a girl? I think it is so cute.

I am still looking for a job. It is obviously hard with budget cuts but in the school systems they don't know what they need until August after they have all their staffing. So in the meantime, I am going to get my substitue teaching certificate. But then my supervisor called me today and said they are now hiring for a new provider at Kids on The Move in Orem and I have no idea what to do. And I have to make a decision ASAP and put in my resume. Holy Moley!

What do I do? I feel good about staying home. But it is a job and I need a job and this experience for grad school and my applications. I have no idea what to do at the moment.
